On January 23, over 100 women attended the 3rd Annual WISE Houston Speed Mentoring Roundtable Signature Event at Minute Maid Park.
The Speed Mentoring Roundtable event is held every January in celebration of National Mentoring Month and is a WISE Within National Signature Event. During this signature event, attendees had the opportunity to have invaluable professional development discussions with 11 top executives (featured mentors) from the Houston sports industry. Those featured mentors were:
- Alicia Vanghel – Sr. Manager of Events and Marketing, Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash
- Diane Freeman – President, Senior Sales Manager, Four Seasons Hotel Houston
- Ellen Ramsey – President, Let It Fly Events, Lone Star Exhibits & Monte Carlo Plus, LLC
- Frances Dyess – President, East End Chamber of Commerce
- Hai Duong – Community Relations Manager, Houston Rockets
- Julie Bass – Executive Director of General Exhibits and Attractions, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo
- Lesley Brotamonte – Marketing & Promotions Director, KRBE/Cumulus Radio
- Marian Harper – Vice President of Foundation Development, Houston Astros
- Shelly Harper – Owner, Sharper Media & Consulting, LLC
- Stephanie Weaver – Media Director, Richards/Carlberg
- Trang Do – Human Resources Manager, Houston Texans
- Attendees were divided into smaller groups based on years of industry experience. Each group had a featured mentor, and discussions were facilitated by a WISE Within committee member. The groups discussed a specific topic for 15 minutes, before the mentor rotated to a new table. Discussion topics included: being a mentor/mentee; building strong relationships at work; money; and making changes. The event was emceed by Carrie Potter, WISE Houston President.
