Lunch & Learn – Dress for Success Houston – September 14th, 2018

As part of WISE Houston’s commitment to giving back to our community, WISE women gathered a lunch and learn event held at Dress for Success Houston’s state-of-art facility. After enjoying a lunch generously provided by Adair Kitchen, staff from Dress for Success Houston (DFSH) spoke about their organization.

Following a welcome message from WISE Houston President, Carrie Potter, Lauren Levicki Courville, Vice President of DFSH, started the presentation with an impactful video featuring several client success stories. She then shared key information about the organization, like who they help and what the program is. The biggest takeaway from this event is Dress for Success Houston is more than a suit! While clients do get the opportunity to get fitted for a suit in a boutique-style room, the organization does so much more. From interview and career fair preparation to membership in the Professional Women’s Group after clients land the job, DFSH covers all the bases in helping women start and continuing on in their career.

Next, Stacy Alauf, Inventory & Operations Manager, talked about the donation needs of DFSH. As part of this lunch and learn, WISE women donated the two most needed items-professional handbags and closed-toe shoes. Dress for Success Houston is also in need of other items for interview apparel, including dry-cleaned suits, jewelry, scarves, blouses and portfolios (so even men can donate!). Donations are accepted right at their facility in River Oaks without even having to get out of your car.

There are many ways to get involved with Dress for Success Houston, from volunteering or making a financial or in-kind donation to attending one of their fundraising events or joining their young professionals group-Women of Wardrobe (WOW).
